01. Did You Get Charged With A Criminal Offence?
What happens in a criminal matter if i am not guilty?
How a matter will progress will vary depending on if the matter is ultimately to be heard in the Local Court or the District Court.

However, generally, in simple terms, a plea of not guilty will involve:
-
A determination of bail by the Police. If the Police refuse to grant bail, the Court will determine bail.
-
The entering of a plea of guilty or not guilty at Court.
-
The Ordering of a brief to be served on the accused. A brief is the evidence that the Prosecution seeks to rely upon to convict the accussed.
-
A hearing where a Magistrate (in the Local Court) or Judge or Jury (in the District Court) decide whether the prosecution have proved each elements of the offence beyond reasonable doubt.
